Getting Started with DataCosmos

The DataCosmos platform provides access to multiple satellite data products and tasking requests from the Open Constellation and third-party sources.

Through this platform, users can search and display all available products, while the interactive UI offers capabilities for performing various remote sensing applications.

DataCosmos User Interface

The DataCosmos UI provides multiple functions, which allow users to:

  • Search through Collections of satellite imagery data
  • Request new images with satellite tasking
  • Visualise high resolution raster and vector data
  • Perform data analysis with multispectral band algebra
  • GIS style layer functionality giving you control on how images are displayed
  • Access geospatial applications to generate further insights
  • Download high resolution satellite data products

The main components of the platform are identified below. Follow the links to discover more about the DataCosmos functionality.

1. DataCosmos mode selection
Users can switch between the Data Catalogue Search, Project Item Search, or Tasking requests. Each of these will provide different options specific to those functions.

2. Data Catalogue / Search Results.
When the user is in either the Data Catalogue Search or Project Item Search, the available data will be displayed as a list, which is sorted chronologically.

3. Data Viewer
Data can be viewed in full resolution by selecting the View icon against the relevant product within the Data Catalogue list.

4. Applications / Data Layers Menu
Data can be visualised in several different ways within either the Applications or Data Layers Menu. These include various mathematical functions (band algebra) and pre-configured remote sensing applications.

Catalogues and Collections

Our imagery is organised using the SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) specification in order to provide a standard interface for searching and retrieving data products.

APIs
